Mario Incandenza (stub)
Mario Incandenza (born~BS 1991)
Mario Incandenza is the second child of James Orin Incandenza and Avril Mondragon. However, it seems possible that Charles Tavis is actually Mario's biological father (314). Although severely disabled and disfigured, Mario maintains a relatively happy demeanor. It has been noted that Mario could not understand why people took drugs; signifying that Mario lacks emotional depth. Although technically Hal Incandenza's older brother, their relationship seems to have reversed roles. Hal affectionately refers to Mario as "Booboo."
Mario seems to have developed a love of cinema comparable to his father. In fact, he is often not seen without his specially designed camera helmet. Despite his diabilities, Mario has produced an adaptation of his father's film The ONANtiad (380). This film has proven to be a success at the Enfield Tennis Academy.
Mario has had thus far only one romantic encounter. This act involvoed the large female tennis junior U.S.S. MIllicent Kent (125). An act made hilarious by their obvious height and body size difference.
Mario recognizes that he’s not just physically, but emotionally different from others. He can’t comprehend why there’s “some rule that real stuff can only get mentioned if everybody rolls their eyes or laughs in a way that isn’t happy.” When Pemulis tells Mario and a bunch of guys the joke about a Dial-a-Prayer service for atheists, Mario found it unpleasant that he was “the only one at the big table whose laugh was a happy laugh; everybody else sort of looked down like they were laughing at somebody with a disability.” (592)
